| HBYC has a sailboat-racing program with a full slate of events from spring through fall. Our racing fleet spans a wide range of boats and crew experience, but all share the desire to have fun and improve sailing skills. Each boat is rated by a performance handicap racing formula to even the competition. Most club races take place on Saturdays, lasting about two hours, sailing the course around Sandusky Bay. HBYC has also hosted the Stein Hospice Cup Regatta for cruising boats. Opportunities are available for Inter-Lake Yachting Association sanctioned long distance races. If you want to see what racing is all about, volunteer to help crew a boat during the pre-race meeting. | ||

| Harbor Bay Yacht Club will sponsor a summer sailboat race series for 2010.
The series will consist of eight races on Sandusky Bay. Only five of the eight races are needed to qualify for
an award. This is an open series. You do not have to be a member of Harbor Bay Yacht Club to race. PHRF handicap
ratings will be used to rate all boats. If you do not have a PHRF Certificate, a rating will be assigned from the
Lake Erie or US Sailing Handicap listings. Sailing instructions, Course Diagrams, and Registration Forms are available on the HBYC website and at the skipper's meetings. Skipper's meetings will be at 10:00 A.M. at the Sandusky Harbor Marina's north pavilion on race day. The races will start at 12:00 noon. The registration fee for the series is $25 for HBYC members and $40 for non members. If you are interested in crewing or learning more, come to a skipper's meeting at the north pavilion on race days and volunteer to crew on a boat. Skippers are always looking for crew. |
